when in colorado

when in colorado--Journey for JessiWhen in Colorado, you have to spend as much time as possible outside. There is really no other way.  After moving back up via a two day road trip, I was itching to be back in the sun and back in nature.  The day after I got back (when I was still residing in a hotel), I made it out to Horsetooth Resevoir with my boyfriend to go kayaking.  It was so much fun!  A nice way to work those arms and shoulders without even realizing.Aside from kayaking, my Colorado welcoming consisted of hiking, upon hiking, upon hiking… so much hiking that I am going to split up my trips into two posts! I was in hiking heaven!

when in colorado--Journey for JessiThe first trail ventured upon was Hanging Lake Trail in Glenwood Springs–a short 3 mile hike with some steep rocky grades.  It was so beautiful, though!

when in colorado--Journey for JessiAn essential part of hiking though, comes before I hit the trails. Preparation is key.  I make sure I have plenty of water and some quick nutrition to keep me going through the day.  Believe it or not, I averaged about 700 calories burned per day when hiking on a trail.  Above are some of my favorite fuel bars (aside from Quest Bars which no where seemed to carry…)

when in colorado--Journey for JessiThe trail to Hanging Lake was even gorgeous.  Never a dull sight to see!

when in colorado--Journey for JessiI enjoy climbing anything that seems climbable.  My dad joined in my adventures too while my mom documented with pictures.

when in colorado--Journey for JessiHiking makes me quite thirsty ;)

I just love being in nature so much.  It gives me joy to wonder at all the simplicities nature has to offer.  Go out and enjoy nature for yourself!
